El Olivo is a restored country house on the hillside above Frigiliana. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a private saltwater pool and a wood-fired oven, rented whole to one group at a time. Below is exactly what you get — including what the house does not have.

Inside
Two bedrooms
One bedroom has a double bed, the other two singles — four beds, and the house sleeps four. Both have ceiling fans. The sofa in the living room is a sofa, not a fifth bed.
Two bathrooms
A full bathroom on each floor: the upper one has a shower, the lower one a bath. Bed linen and towels are provided.
Living room with fireplace
Whitewashed walls, beams and a working fireplace, with the dining table alongside. It is where the house gathers in the evening, and in March and November it is the warmest room in it.
Kitchen
Dishwasher, oven, microwave and washing machine, with the sierra through the window. There is a Dolce Gusto capsule machine, but bring your own capsules — we don't stock them.
Outside
Private saltwater pool
Roughly 7.5 by 3.5 metres, 1.70 m at the deep end. Saltwater rather than chlorine, which is gentler on skin and eyes. It is yours alone for the whole stay.
Terrace and wood-fired oven
A terrace facing the sea with a wood-fired oven. Worth knowing before you plan a pizza night: we do not supply the firewood.
Parking for two cars
Space for two cars beside the house, in the open. No hunting for a spot in the village.

Before you book: the honest part
These are the things guests ask about after they arrive. We would rather you knew them now, so the house is a good fit or clearly isn't.
The pool has no fence or railing
Access to the pool is completely open and it is 1.70 m deep at the deepest point. There is no fence, gate or railing of any kind. With young children this needs an adult watching, every time. Please decide whether that works for your family before you book.
There is no air conditioning
There are ceiling fans in the bedrooms and a fireplace for the cold months, but no A/C anywhere. Thick walls and shutters do most of the work: in August the house is lived in indoors through the middle of the day and outside from early evening. If you need air conditioning to sleep, this is not the right house for you in July or August.
Stairs, and no step-free route
There is a flight and a half of stairs inside, and the two bathrooms are on different floors. The house is not suitable for guests with reduced mobility.
A car is essential
No public transport comes up here. The village, the beach and the nearest shop all mean driving.
No pets and no smoking
Neither is possible, indoors or out.
No cot and no high chair
We don't have either, so bring your own if you are travelling with a baby.
